Prepare for Your Land Visit
Come Prepared And Dress Appropriately
Before you head out, ensure your smartphone is fully charged. Download a mapping tool (OnX Hunt or Land ID are recommended). These tools allow you to view your exact location relative to the property boundaries, making it easy to navigate even without physical markers on the land.
Dress for the terrain! Wear long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and close-toed shoes, preferably boots. A brimmed hat will protect you from the sun.
Use the land GPS coordinates for driving directions.
Land GPS Coordinates
Locate the GPS coordinates of the property on our website. Include an Image under this section which shows where these coordinates are located on our site.Simply input the coordinates into GPS mapping tools like Google Maps or iPhone Maps to get driving directions that will take you directly to the property.
Get familiar with the parcel image mapping app.
Make sure you are able to locate your current location and view the parcel image on the downloaded app.
OnX Hunt offers a free basic plan that provides limited access to maps and features. You can view a single state’s public and private land boundaries, mark waypoints, and utilize offline maps.
To download the OnX Hunt app, you can visit the App Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Android devices. After installation, you can sign up for an account and start using the app immediately, either on the free plan or by upgrading to a premium subscription.
Land ID is a robust tool for real estate professionals, landowners, and developers to visualize, map, and analyze properties. It offers features like customizable maps, parcel data, and integration with GIS layers. Users can create detailed property reports and share them easily.
These apps are paid, but they offer a 3-7 day free trial. Make sure to download them only when you’re ready to visit the land.
Confirm Your Location and navigate with precision
Once you arrive at the property, open either OnX Hunt or Land ID and hit the button to display your location on the map. Locate the parcel image on your phone, which should match the parcel image listed on our selling site. If you cannot identify the subject parcel image in the parcel image mapping app, reference the one provided on our site at www.privatepropertylands.com
Use Visual Landmarks and GPS
As you approach the property, use visual landmarks provided in the listing imagery such as nearby roads, treelines, rivers, clearings or fence lines to confirm your location.
Explore the property!
Once you verify you are at the correct location, look for any boundary markers or stakes on the property. Use OnX Hunt or Land ID to verify your location with respect to the parcel image. This will help you get a feel for the location and size of the property.
