Our interactive maps are designed to give you easy access to key information.  Here’s a quick guide to make your experience even better:

Allow the Map to Load on the property page.

Our maps are connected to external servers that provide extensive amounts of information about the subject property.  Depending on the quality of your internet connection, the map may take a few seconds to load at first.

Pro Tip –  Although our maps are optimized for mobile and PC use,  we recommend the full screen mode for exploring map layers.

Default Data Layers

The maps on our page load with the following data layers “turned on”.

  • Contour Lines
  • FEMA Floodplain
  • Fed/State Land
  • Pipelines
  • Railroads
  • Surface Water
  • Transmission Lines
  • Water Wells
  • Wetlands
  • Wilderness Areas

Although there are many other useful data layers available for you to explore, we load the map with these layers “on” for you because we find them to be generically useful in most cases.

Consider the loaded map as a starting point for your own customized view.

Customize Your View

Adjust the map to show the specific details you care about by exploring the layers.  Simply click on the layer icon to show the list of intuitive layer names.  The list of layer names provides the full extent of information that can be gleaned from the map.

Turn layers on or off in the current view with a single click of the layer name.  For example, if you would like to know if the land is located in the city limits, turn on the “City Limits” view and zoom out to see the location of the city limit boundaries.

Pro Tip – If you turn on a layer and do not see a change in your current view, zoom out until you see how the layer affects the map in other areas.

Understanding Interactive Map Layers

Interactive map layers are digital overlays that display different types of data on a map. These layers can include anything from property boundaries to zoning, each providing unique insights into the land’s characteristics. By integrating multiple data sets, these maps offer a holistic view of a property, enabling users to assess various factors that influence land use and value.

Interactive map layers enhance decision-making by:

  • Visual Clarity: Presenting complex data in an accessible, visual format that’s easy to interpret.
  • Data Accuracy: Providing up-to-date and precise information about land attributes.
  • Decision-Making Support: Helping users evaluate property features, potential risks, and opportunities effectively.

Key Features of Interactive Map Layers

Property Boundaries

The parcel boundary map layer allows users to view precise boundary lines, often sourced from official surveys or public records. This is the main feature used for verifying property size, location and shape.  It provides an understanding of how the property is positioned with respect to neighboring parcels, infrastructure, developments and local geological features.

Topographic Layers

The Topographic layer provides details on land elevation, slope, and natural features.  This layer informs on gradient terrain conditions which can impact construction projects, water drainage, and overall land usability. This layer is particularly useful for identifying potential issues related to land development.

Flood Zones

Flood zone layers indicate areas prone to flooding, based on historical data and geographic conditions. This information is critical for evaluating flood risks and determining insurance needs. Users can make informed decisions about property investment and necessary precautions to mitigate flood-related issues.

Utilities and Infrastructure

Layers displaying utilities and infrastructure show the availability and location of essential services such as water, electricity, roads, and other amenities. This feature helps users assess the convenience and accessibility of a property, which can be a significant factor in its value and usability.

Zoning Information

Zoning layers display how land is categorized for use, such as residential, commercial, agricultural, vacant etc.

Aquifers and Water Wells

These layers are useful when considering rural land without supplied water infrastructure.  Turn on the water well layer to locate any nearby water wells as an indication of groundwater in the area.  It’s not uncommon to find water wells where no Aquifers are present.  Major and Minor Aquifer layers are also available.

Find What You Need Quickly

Visually review  important details such as property boundaries, zoning use, topography contours, flood zones, surface water, pipelines, water well locations and much more. Whether you’re looking for a residential plot or commercial space, you can customize the map to highlight what matters most to you.

See the Big Picture

Interactive layers on our maps help you see how different features overlap. For example, you can combine zoning information with property boundaries to spot opportunities or potential issues right away. This helps you get a clearer idea of what the land is really like.
